Why the sudden obsession with “auditing the gold” at Fort Knox and the NY Fed?

Why the sudden obsession with “auditing the gold” at Fort Knox and the NY Fed?

Let’s break it down plainly:

  1. For 70+ years the U.S. Treasury has claimed ~8,133 tons of gold are stored on behalf of the American people (mostly at Fort Knox, West Point, Denver, and the NY Fed).

That’s supposed to be 261.5 million troy ounces worth roughly $700+ billion at today’s prices.

2. The last FULL, bar-by-bar, independent audit with serial number reconciliation?

1953.

Since then we’ve only had “continuing audits” (Treasury employees counting sealed vaults and taking photos) and a partial audits in the 1970s and 1990s.

No outside auditors allowed to drill test bars or match serial numbers in decades.

3. Why does this matter now?

• The U.S. dollar has lost >98% of its purchasing power since the Fed was created in 1913.

• Trust in institutions is at all-time lows.

• Countries (China, Russia, India, Turkey, Poland…) are stacking gold at a record pace and demanding physical delivery.

• Rumors have swirled for years: leased gold, tungsten-filled bars, secret hypothecation, etc.

4. What would a real audit look like?

•  Independent third-party auditor (not Treasury OIG)

•  Bar-by-bar weigh & assay (including ultrasonic & XRF testing)

•  Full serial number reconciliation against 1953 ledger

•  Live-streamed or at least witnessed by elected officials from both parties

•  Public report within 90 days

5. The counter-argument you’ll hear:

“It’s all there. We do annual audits. You’re a conspiracy theorist.”

But even the Treasury’s own website admits the last complete physical audit was 1953, and the GAO has repeatedly said deeper audits are needed. Even Ron Paul’s 2011 bill to audit Fort Knox got bipartisan support before dying in the Senate.

6. Bottom line:

If the gold is really there and unencumbered, a modern, transparent audit would destroy the conspiracy theories overnight and restore massive credibility to U.S. financial claims.

If leadership refuses… well, that tells you something too.

Demand the audit.

Who else thinks it’s time we actually open the vaults and count the bars — live on camera?
